I did already.

Hasn’t even been released and is having performance issues?
![]() 08/26/2015 at 13:48 |

I don’t like it
(runs away)

came here to post “that’s what she said” but this was better.

Saw the concept in person at Oshkosh, looks a lot like a 300 to me, nothing earth shattering design wise imho, those wheels do a lot to sell the look, I would think the wheels on a production model might be slightly more conservative.

Will it have a proper drivetrain? Or another fancy Taurus?
![]() 08/26/2015 at 13:55 |

It’s already here.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 14:06 |

bah, It’ll never be as good as a cadillac...
![]() 08/26/2015 at 14:29 |
|
I think it looks better and more luxurious than anything Cadillac has released in 40+ years.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:14 |

oh for fuck sake.
Working off your exact pictures I circled everything in red that looks different on the Bentley vs the Lincoln.
MY GOD IT HAS 4 DOORS AND A TRUNK! SAME CAR!
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:15 |

This looks like the best possible combination of an Audi A8, an SHO, with some Bentley overtones. I would so love for this car (in this blue) to pick me up at the airport.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:23 |

I’ve been thinking about it though... does it matter? It’s a luxury car not a sports sedan and it isn’t trying to pretend it is one. As long as it’s AWD and fairly powerful I’m not sure it matters if it’s FWD based.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:26 |

That’s what she said!

Oh well more for me
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:35 |
|
Probably but I must say I am a fan of the wheels. And I agree the design is not Earth shattering but what new luxury car design is?
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:35 |
|
Exactly as long as it is AWD (Like every Audi ever) it won’t matter.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:36 |
|
I believe it is based off the Taurus but it will be stretched and likely highly tweaked. Lincoln is going for “quite luxury.” They aren’t trying to make a M5 killer. More of a all out luxury tourer.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:38 |
|
Jokes old and I think unfounded. Somewhere I made a post about it a few months back.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:40 |
|
I really do like it.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:41 |
|
You are right it will never be “as good.” It will be better. Because Lincoln used to and will soon again build the best car in the world. As Edsel Ford once said.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:41 |
|
It would be an excellent car to be chauffeured in with 30 way power adjustable seats. I hope those make production.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:42 |
|
I was expecting to see a production version at Pebble Beach. I guess we will have to wait longer
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:49 |

“They’ll know you’ve arrived when you pull up
in a ‘58 Edsel....” ??
yeah and how did that go for them?
![]() 08/26/2015 at 15:51 |
|
What does Edsel have to do with this? But yes the Edsel was a very big mistake.
I am talking about Edsel Ford the son of Henry Ford.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 17:46 |

similar to this guy.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 17:48 |
|
I guess so, itll fit right in with every other current Lincoln.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 17:49 |
|
Haha! Oh yeah, Lincoln is know for Luxury and great looks.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 17:51 |
|
If they can pull a 180 like Cadillac did. I will be very very surprised. Im not saying they cant, because I want them to.
But its gonna take more than a rebranded Taurus.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:04 |

Remember who Lincoln is owned by, and remember who Cadillac is owned by. If GM can turn something around, Ford sure as hell can.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:11 |
|
Exactly. GM can build some grear cars. Look at what they’ve done with Corvette, Cadillacs, Camaros, etc.
Ford likes to stay safe with package off the week Mustangs and F150s. Lately theyve been doing better.
So if your right, 10-15 years from now. They may get it.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:13 |
|
It won’t take 15 years. Plus, GM still isn’t there.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:22 |

Depends where “there” is. Have you not seen the new ATSV and CTSV?
Its a Continental. When you think Lincoln, a Continental is one of the great cars that come to mind.
Now, if they had said.
All new Continental on a new platform and new drivetrain. I would then agree with you. But it seems like they said.
Ok ,well bring back a name people know and love, stick it on this old platform we have. Make it look like these other cars and call it a day.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:26 |
|
The CTS-V looks like a CTS with a shitty body kit. I’ll give you the ATS. They still aren’t there in terms of quality for the price. Everybody except the most biased sources will tell you that. And then there are the Z06 issues. The Continental may be on an old platform, but on Pilot Sports, that platform kept up with an F10 M5 on a track. I’m also sure it will have the next gen EcoBoost engine.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:38 |
|
You gonna clean up that mess?
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:40 |
|
It has 4 round wheels too!
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:41 |
|
Looks are stupid to argue about. Like Batman vs Superman.
Every. Single. Manufacturer. Will have issues weather its a KIA or a Flaming Ferrari. We can all agree on that. But for the most part they all do fine.
I do agree about the 3.5 ecoboost. It’s the best engine Ford has ever made.
Not sure what an F10 is or whats its capable of. But its main Competition will be a 300 and CT6.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:46 |
|
No I would say it is different. It is obvious the XTS is a FWD car with little to distinguish it from a similar Impala or Buick Rendezvous (I think?). The Lincoln will have it’s own unique engine as well as significantly modified chassis. The rumor is it will only be AWD not at all front wheel drive. So kinda like an Audi A4 or A6 even. Which people tend to forget are FWD biased cars
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:47 |
|
I think you are being pessimistic. My hopes are the car will be much more than a rebranded Taurus.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:51 |
|
I promise Im not.
Just realistic.
Tell me you(as would I) would not be saying the same thing if Cadillac built the current CTS or CT6 on a Buick Lacrosse plarform.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 18:57 |
|
That would be really worrying considering Cadillac has finally made the transition to RWD. I don’t think Lincoln is as far as the Germans or Cadillac in luxury car in engineering. On the other hand I also don’t think the Continental will be a rebadged Taurus. Have you seen how good Ford has been doing lately? This will be a step in the right direction. As I said in the other post an Audi A6. Quattro level grip with a FWD bias. At least that is what I expect Ford to do. One doesn’t just simply resurrect 60 years of history just to be lazy.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 19:08 |
|
I agree Ford has been doing great for the most part. Mustang, F series, and GT are and will be great cars.
Main reason I saw this, is Cadillac for example.
When they turned their ship around. They started with a clean sheet. New platforms and new direction.
So this Continental will be with us for the next 5-6 years. So maybe the next gen will get it right.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 19:26 |

MY GOD!
![]() 08/26/2015 at 19:38 |
|
I guess I am just hoping this Lincoln is like an Audi. A fun to drive car with a quality interior. Maybe I will be wrong but it seems like the most logical choice if they stick with a FWD platform
![]() 08/26/2015 at 19:49 |
|
It can be all those things, oh yeah. But it wont be better than the competition.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 19:53 |
|
It is the first time around. I wouldn’t expect it to be.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 19:58 |

Well, like 10th time around. But itll get better.
![]() 08/26/2015 at 20:01 |

First time for the rebirth anyway

A car designed for the track, should be able to handle the track, or at the very least handle the trip there without overheating. That’s a pretty big screw up.
![]() 08/27/2015 at 08:40 |
|
Yep, I agree. Im sure theyll fix it. Some tweaks to the calibration and cooling system.
You think they would of caught it during development. But maybe its a first year bug.
